Default rear heat/ac console display, light swap?

Hey guys I'm looking for a little help I have an 08 LTZ an the rear console display is burnt out but everything still work if you press the a/c or heat or the heated seats they all work. There's a great there that shows you how to replace the rear console unit but (it's 140$) what I'm wondering is can you just swap the lights that are in the console out for new ones?

I don't really feel like paying the 140+ because it still clearly works and it's only the display lights that are burnt out. I can't find a part # for individual rear console lights so I'd assume GM doesn't sell them seperately but maybe it has been done before?

Thanks a bunch!

Just incase this (this isn't mine since the lights work :P)

Welcome to the forum.

Check w/ your dealer parts dept. They can look it up and tell if it's serviced separately.

Except the fact that canadian dealers don't know anything (plus they want 590$CAD vs 140USD for the unit LOL nice scam)and US dealer won't give me any info since it's a Canadian VIN.

GMparts authority doesn't show a part number nor a piece and i've emailed them with no response so far. I'm assuming it isn't serviceable but...

This really shouldn't be rocket science anyone with simple electrical experience anyone should be able to do it, it's a light or a diode pretty simple stuff worst case i'll just pry open my console unit, take a look and most probably do it myself since I can't get a solid answer from anyone at GM.

If anyone has attempted, any insight would be nice and much appreaciated. Thanks guys&girls

The parts guy should be able to pull it up on his computer and see if it's serviced separately or not.

If it's not, you can try a salvage yard, ebay, Craig's List, etc for a console.
