I started my 2009 5.3 L 1500LT Suburban the other night with the remte start. When Iunocked he vehicle, and turned the key on, I had a check engine light, and the emote start won't work, now. Any ideas about how troubleshoot the system would be appeciated.

The remote start is disabled when you have a check engine light on. Either scan it yourself or go to your local auto parts store. Most stores will scan it for free.

Please do follow up on what the error code is... I'd bet its an EVAP related code.
Had you recently filled up? if yes, make sure the gas cap is in tight.
Just a shot in the dark but its something to check
