Default Rent to own wheels...Good Idea?

Hi, everyone! I just wanted to get some feedback about getting some new wheels and tires from a rent to own store. How many of you have done it and what are the pros and cons from your experience? There is a local shop here where I live.

http://www.customwheelrentals.com

I have an'08 Summit White Tahoe LS 2WD and wanted to know what wheel and tire size you recommend. I'm thinking about maybe getting 22" wheels but want to know what size tire would fit to replace the stock 17" wheels at 265/70R17. I like the height of the vehicle as it sits right now but would like to fill up the wheel gaps a little. I did a tire size calculator configuration and if I get the 22" wheels it looks like 305/40R22. Will the gaps be smaller without having to lower the truck?

Also, I wasn't sure how the TPS setup would work. Can I use the existing sensors? One last question, what brand of wheels would look good? Thanks!

Do the math and figure out how much you will pay over the term of the rental deal. Then price the samewheel setupelsewhere and figure the total cost if you go borrow the moneyat the bank or someplace similar to buy them instead of renting to own. Then comparethe total cost on each deal and go with the better one.

Since you apparently have not picked out a specific wheel yet, check craigslist to see if there's anything on there that you like. You may find a really good deal there.

If you haven't been to craigslist yet, you need to find out about it. www.craigslist.com

Since you asked for opinions...here is mine. Never buy anything for your vehicles unless you can pay for it with cash. If you are considering spending thousands on wheels with a RTO place....you may want to look closer at your financial priorities.

Normally I'd keep my opinion about this to myself as well, but you did ask..... I have to agree that rent-to-own wheels raises some red flags. That seems as bad as going to a payday/check advance place. Especially since this is not for a necessity, but for a luxury. You end up paying much more in the long run.

My advice?Put your down payment (that site said $75-$150)into a high-yield savings account(GMAC Bankoffers decent rates) and add what you would be paying per week for the rims (the website said $35-$70/wk) into your savings account. Yes you'll have to wait for your rims, but not only will you save money by not paying interest, you'll actually earn interest! And who knows, maybe you'll decide that you could use that money towards something other than rims??

Anyway, that's my two cents.

If you can't pay cash...forget it! I hope I am not the only one watching the market and the current state of the US Economy!! Our economy is based on pure consumptions and we all wantinstant satisfaction, but the problem is so many get things they can't afford so they charge and/or borrow.... If you CAN'T AFFORD SOMETHING, DON'T GET IT!!! People need to wake up before they do and find outour $$ aren't worth sh*t anymore and inflation kicks in makingeverything so expensive nobody can afford these'toys'....

A tax refund is as bad as the payday loan places. You are letting the gov't use your money for a year interest free. [] [:'(] []

I was referring to the rebate checks for the economic "stimulus" plan....hence "on the government" Check out this neat little website called CNN....it's been all over the news for about a week now[sm=americanasmiley.gif]
