Default replaced battery 2007 Tahoe

so the 4 year old stock battery finally died the other day. I was shocked to see how expensive the replacement battery at Autozone was...I have always had good luck with their batteries and it is easy to replace under warranty if needed. Anyway they only had the Gold and Platinum and because of the random positive terminal we have the shape of the top is different than the normal flat shape that all other batteries have.
I did not have time to mess with making sure if a regular battery fit so I dropped $170 on the Platinum version listed for the Tahoe. The sales guy said that because of the shape a regular (cheaper) one would not fit correctly.
The battery is nice but I thought I would have heard more on this site regarding having to pay extra vs the normal $80 or so for a good battery???
the stock battery was only around 615 CCA and the Platinum one is 750 CCA and 950 CA so it has a bunch of juice for the price...

has anyone else purchased a new battery from Autozone?

I put a regular battery from Sam's in my 2007. Fit fine. It was about $75.

I'd second the Sam's, think they use Interstate batteries...I haven't had to repalce mine yet but did have it replaced at about 2yrs under warranty for failure or near failure, it didn't sound right when I cranked it over leaving work, drive right to the dealership and they replaced it.

That's about how long mine lasted and like a fool, I thought the battery warranty was separate and prorated so I just went out and bought a new one.

This 2010 will be charging at ~15V for a 100 mi and then drop down to ~12V and then back up again. If I turn the key to the Run position w/o starting, in about 30 sec, I get the "Battery low, start engine" message and it shuts everything down. It's going to get check when I go in for oil.

Also not to happy w/ the 30-35 psi oil pressure. Never had a Chevy that was less than 40 psi but service says it's OK. We'll see.

great, that is what I get for waiting until the last minute when we needed a battery right then. Should have shopped around.
at least it has a very good warranty (3 year replacement and 6 year prorated) and good specs. He also said it was similar to Optima batteries that they have glass inside seperating the packs vs plastic like most batteries. Hopefully I will be able to keep the music on for more than 10 minutes now.

I thought it also expired at the 12/12 mark and called my service advisor on my way home and asked, he said it was covered and that is why I went straight there otherwise I too would have been headed to the Auto parts store...
