Default Replacement engine

Hello,
need help with deciding to replace engine on my 2009 5.3 engine.
have seen several different ways:
1. Replace engine
2. Install shield to prevent oil damage on engine. Or
3. Replace with used engine from different year 2012 or newer.
please help!

Welcome from Florida. What is option2? If you do this will you be able to keep your current engine? Why are you replacing the engine. My first case if I needed to replace an engine would be to rebuild the one I have.

Thanks,
no 2. oil in chambers of spark plugs 7 and 8. I was told this is internal engine failure. Looking online this has been problematic and GM has issued an fix for this problem. Well just answered that question. But if I rebuild or replace with similar engine with same problem should I put sheild on or will an engine from 2012 model or new with fixed problem be better?

I don't know the answer to this, but changing years might mean that you have to change the computer as well. It's something you need to look into.
