Default Replacing a broken cluster

I hope someone can help. I broke my cluster on my 07 Tahoe installing radio equipment.. I found a guy on e-bay that sells them and he says that it is a plug and play unit and that I don't need to worry about the mileage or programming it. I know that on the older Tahoes the mileage was counted on the computer as well as the cluster. Does anyone know? If so does it have to be programmed by the dealer to work?
