I have read on here where a guy moved the chimes to the speakers in the rear pillars. I am really not wanting to lose all the warning chimes or auto dome light.

Has anyone relocated the audible warning chimes to the rear pillar speakers?

Now that I think about it, the "Guy" had to relocated the chimes to another speaker because he wanted to retain the chimes after replacing the amp. So if I am going to replace the speakers and amp and wanting to retain the chimes, I would not need any modual, correct? Also I am not wanting to keep onstar.

Why don't you want to keep Onstar?

I don't really USE Onstar but I like having it there just in case. It can unlock your doors, locate your car if it's stolen and notify the cops if you crash and are unconscious. If it's the money, I called them to cancel a while back and they lowered the price for me.

Default OnStar

It's the ethical part... OnStar should not charge for what we have already paid for.

The ability to dial 911 in the event the airbags go off should be and is a free feature on the Ford Sync.

All other options, tracking, door unlock, remote shut off, etc, can be paid.

I have read a thread on here where crap-star will not dial 911 if your in a wreck and do not have active service. So whats the point in keeping onstar if I dont have the service and they cant or wont make a 30 second call to 911, if they will call 911 without service I would keep it. Can anyone confirm this?

Default Retain OnStar and Use Aftermarket Amps

Question:
'09 Silverado regular cab, OnStar, aftermarket stereo, aftermarket amps, GMAHL1, aftermarket door speakers, subs, deck powered- stock speakers on the rear pillars.

I have all of the equipment and I'm going to tackle this project on my next day off. I'm wondering if my OnStar will operate when I make my front speakers run off an amplifier playing straight from the new stereos RCAs. If not, I figure I could swap the wires on the trucks original harness, from the front speakers to the rear (I'd hate to cut the harness though).
Anybody encounter this problem?
Any advice?

@ Chuzz
just so you're aware, you're onstar audio, chimes, & signals are going to come directly from the OS-4 you are installing. so If you are going to amplify the front speakers, you are probably going to by-pass the OS-4 to the amp.
I would advise you to utilize the OS-4 for full integration, and use the high level inputs to your amplifier if you have them and get the audio AFTER the OS-4
