Ride difference between 1999 and 2000 Suburban?
Hello. I am new to Suburbans and am looking at two, a 1999 GMC with Z71 package, and a 2001 LS. I have yet to drive the 1999 as it is some distance away and am curious as to how it compares to the 2000+ models - which I have driven. Was there much difference in performance between the two years? The kicker is the 1999 has only 74K miles on it while the 2001 has 127K.
Also, how many miles will the GM800 units run? Is 200K typical or do they start failing around 150K+ like a ford taurus
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Well I know the 5.3's get better mileage that the ole 5.7's and the body styling is quite different between the 99's and 2000's. I guess it boils down to price and what style YOU really want. The low mileage 99 sounds Ok but you have to look at how each were taken care of and WHY does the 99 have low miles? did it sit for a while? I've owned a 96 and now have a 2000 and the 2000 is by far nicer on the inside but it has the premium interior with rear captains chairs and a 3rd row full bench. So seating is a little less. Roominess seems similar. I'm liking our 2000 more and more compaired to the 96 we had. I hope this helps.
I like my 04 better than the 99 for most things. 04 should ride better but does not hold weight very good for towing heavy loads. the 5.3L in the newer ones have more HP and should get better MPG. I also like the newer body style better myself. but there is alot of difference in miles. so in the end it is your choice and what one you like to driver better. let us know what one you pick up.
Thanks for the replys - good information. Looks and comfort aside, is there much difference between the two when it comes the driving? In particular, parking. We don't want to spend our time going to see a 99 if they handle and drive worse than the 2000+. I see they have a little shorter wheel base and coils in the rear instead of leafs. I didn't know how much if any difference this would make. I haven't been able to find a 99 locally yet to test drive or I'd know for myself
Thanks again, Jim
