Default Right barn door won't stay open

Is there a part I should be looking for to keep the passenger side barn door open? Whenever I'm doing stuff back there, it always seems to want to fall back closed. Left one stays from just friction it seems.

I try pulling the little latch or whatever to open the door all the way, but it still wants to swing closed.

Any tricks or suggestions?

It sounds like the rear door check strap needs to be replaced. It is gm part number 15048810. The strap helps to hold the door in position. Please take a look at the strap condition and see if this might be the problem.

Hopefully it solves your problem. The barn doors were a nice feature.

If you open the door all the way exposing the metal strap end, I believe you can squeeze the shaped end closed a bit to achieve a tighter friction fit. - seem to remember doing this many yrs ago on our 93

I had same problem with r/door, swapped check with l/door because I hardly use it compared to r/side, cheap fix. As for O/P who suggested squezzing the loop on the end of check strap, it will BREAK , it is either CAST or POT METAL. That was the first thing I tried before swapping check straps, 10/15 minute job. Good luck.
