Rough cost to add AC to an 83 suburban?
I'm in talks to take a look at an '83 Suburban. The owner swapped in a 6.5, and did a bunch of other work. It looks like a good rig, but there's no A/C.
Assuming the worst case, that I take it to a shop and write them a check, roughly what might I be looking at to add an AC system? I assume it'll be something in the area of $5k, with most of that in labor?

Since the engine isn't the original, the chevy AC apparently doesn't fit, but there are plenty of electrical 12V solutions to choose from, and that's my kind of hardware installation... I do well with electrical systems.
That's major custom surgery with an aftermarket setup if they even make one. Not only compressor mounting but a new heater box is needed and cutting holes in the dash to place the A/C vents.
I'd put that 5k plus towards a truck with factory air.
