rUNNING BOARDS-2013 LTZ TAHOE

i HAVE AN LTZ 2013 TAHOE..i ASSUMED WHEN THE CAR STARTED THAT THE RUNNING BOARDS WOULD AUTOMATICALLY COME OUT AND THEN WHEN SHUTTING DOWN THE VEHICLE THEY WOULD RETRACT BACK IN. is that not the case?
