I just purchased a 2007 Chevy Tahoe LT that has the factory Navigation radio set-upwith no satellite radio- I spoke to a local dealership parts guy- he lookedup my VIN and says my radio isn't wired to acceptan XM add-on. He said Sirius makes a product that can be wired into the radio and used without anextra receiver and referred me to Circuit Citythey says no such product exists for the 07 Tahoe.

I live where there are very few radio stations, so satellite radio is a must can someone out there help explain to me what options I have to add satellite radio without replacing my entire radio with an after market radio?? Right now it seems the only option would be to purchase a portable satellite radio receiver and have that extra piece in the car too....???? Any help is really appreciated!

i thought all sat nav ones were wired for XM, they come with 3 months new dont they?!

 

I was under the impression that all the radio's installed were XM, but I guess its possible some models are sold with a standard radio, but I would expect that more on an LS not and LT.

 

All radios(with the exception of the new CTS), are just radios\nav units. None of them have built in XM tuners. XM tuners are a separate unit that communicates with the radio and sends audio to the radio. Certain radios cannot communicate with an XM module which is why your parts dept told you that it cannot be done.
Although i was always under the impression that it was possible on a nav radio, but can't say for certain
