Scosche Bluetooth Module for GMLan coming
I stumbled onto a new Scosche product that integrates Bluetooth with GMLAN. It's call the BFGM (Blue Fusion for GM).

It's nowhere on their website, but in their PDF catalog below.

Check out Pages 3 through 5 of this document!

http://www.scosche.com/pdf/Scosche_2...ntegration.pdf

I called Scosche this morning and they said it won't ship until end of March and they do not know anticipated MSRP.

I also asked Scosche tech support since the BFGM appears to hang off the XM module as the picture shows in the catalog, how will it play with the AXIPGMLAN (or Ipod Lockpick as I have).

How will they interact with each other?

Unfortunately they say pick either the Ipod Module or BFGM, not both so this isn't good news.

This Blue Fusion bluetooth kit is exactly what I've been looking for to integrate bluetooth into the '07 Tahoe. Is it as simple as buying this kit and plugging it into the existing satellite radio harness? Or will there be other harnesses required to buy to make this work? What other info did you get from the sales guy at Scosche?

I'm definitely up for giving this a try once they are available for purchase. Maybe we could get a group buy/discount started up to save us all some $$$.

Thanks for the great info...Please post any updates.

Wow, that sounds very cool...just what I've wanted also. Let's hope it is reasonably priced and comes out on time...looks like real simple plug and play...

I'm going to guess it is a quick plug in between the head unit and the XM module behind the glove box. Just like how the ipod lockpick is installed. I sure hate to lose my Ipod in lieu for bluetooth though. They need to figure out a way to make them co-exist or come out with one black box that does both!!!

You could buy a bluetooth adapter for your iPod. That would work with this Blue Fusion kit. I'm ready to move that direction or if they are too expensive maybe I'll just buy an iPhone.

you would still have the problem of needing two boxes with the iphone. Also steaming music via bluetooth is not the cleanest of sounds. A solution might be to go with the Peripheral Elec PXAMG which plugs in thru the back of the head unit for the ipod interface, and then use the Blue Fusion but still not sure if they would work together.
I dont care for the company but doesn't CoastelTech have a all in one interface already?

CoastelTech has a similar type of integration but you still have to purchase an aftermarket bluetooth car kit from Motorola or Parrot to allow it to work. This Blue Fusion kit seems to have the car kit already integrated and a microphone provided.

UPDATE: (02-12-08)

I just got off the phone with one of the Scosche sales guys and here are some of the items we discussed:

1. All harnesses are included with the kit required to make the bluetooth system work
2. Simple plug-n-play into the XM radio module
3. No cutting of wires is required
4. Microphone already included which you can mount anywhere on the dash, headliner, etc. (no additional bluetooth car kit required - like the CoastalTech Lockpick requires)
5. Only other additional hardware needed would be a bluetooth transmitter to plug into your iPod to transmit bluetooth streaming audio through the Blue Fusion kit and into your stereo. However this is not required, but only optional if you'd like iPod integration.

The two big questions:
1. Release date? The GM Blue Fusion (BFGM) will be out approx. the 2nd week of March. Ford, Toyota, Honda will follow after the GM release.
2. Cost? $399

The one thing I forgot to ask about was a group buy or if he could release a coupon code to use online if enough of us purchased this kit. The cost seams a little high, but if it were an option to add at the time of vehicle purchase, I would definitely spend that kind of money for the integration. I plan on calling him back in a couple of weeks to confirm the release date and I plan on purchasing one of these right away. I don't imagine GM's OEM kit will be any cheaper and I'm tired of waiting.

That does seem a little high...let's hope they do a group buy or coupons...

Now, since I am not a techie at all, and have never used Bluetooth yet (my LG 8300 phone does have BT), will ANY Bluetooth enabled phone work with this kit? Someone had told me that different phones used different bluetooth versions?? Sorry if this is a lame question, but I have no idea about all this stuff...I'm more mechanical than technical!
