I just sent this email to Scosche's tech support department.

Scosche Tech Support Department: I'm sure you know there is a "buzz" on all of the Internet forums with the release of the BlueFusion for GM. As you know this is something that a lot of folks have been waiting for, especially with all of the hands-free laws now in so many states. A lot of folks also have iPod adaptors that utilize the XM com port, the same com port that the BlueFusion uses. With that said there are many folks looking for a solution for using both an iPod adaptor and the BlueFusion piece. On your website will you please post an iPod adaptor compatibility list and/or a solution for this using an iPod adaptor with the BlueFusion. If there is no possible way to co-mingle an iPod adaptor with the BlueFusion, will you please specify definitively on your website to avoid any confusion. I'm sure I speak for all of us GM owners out there, we would really like a way for the two pieces to coexist, and we hope that Scosche is working on a solution. GM owner (2007 GMC Yukon XL) Fred Mack

I'll let you know if I get a response.

The tech's response:

We greatly appreciate the time and effort invested into your correspondence. We always value customer feedback as it helps us to improve our products or services in a much more effective way. We are currently in the process of testing our BlueFusion interface with various other adaptors which also utilize the factory radio's XM connecting port and we are discussing posting our findings on our site, in order to better support the concerns of our customers. In regards to compatibility with other Scosche interfaces, we have recently concluded that the BFGM is not fully compatible with the AXIPGMLAN iPod interface. Again we appreciate your correspondence and we ask that you please feel free to contact myself or our staff regarding any further concerns that you may.
The numerous reports that I have been given, indicates that the BFGM is not compatible with the AXIPGMLAN, however to what extent I must look into. My apologies for any confusion or lack of clarity.

It will not work with the Coastal Lockpick (GMX-322) either....looks like I will be using a Parrot now.

Default Scosche Blue Fusion Install

I just installed the Scosche Blufusion in my 2007 Tahoe...non Navigation. Set it up putting the mic on the driver's side "A" pillar, tucking/running the cord up between the headliner/windshield, down the "A" pillar on the passenger side down into the glove box area where the Scosche unit connects to the factory XM box. I used double sided 3M tape to attach the Scosche unit near the XM box. Really quite easy aside from dealing with the mic cable...you just have to get creative running it behind trim.

As far as operation and sound...I like that the sound comes through the factory speakers...you can turn it up as loud as you like. Everything seems to function properly...not really sure how practical all the "redial, missed calls, incoming, outgoing etc." is really going to be on the factory head unit...seems easier to just view your phone if you really need all that stuff as the menu is a bit complicated to use those functions with your radio buttons. 100% satisfied with just being able answer a call hitting a button on my steering wheel...and seeing the caller ID number show up on the radio. Phone is automatically connected via bluetooth when car is started. I tested the unit in all modes...XM, AM, FM, Aux Jack...in each case the Scosche Blufusion automatically detected an incoming phone call and switched to the call with a ring and caller ID (number only w/Non Nav) on the radio. After the call, the only default is to automatically return to XM radio. If you want return to something else...you have to manually change it with the band button. Also, I noticed that after each phone call the Scosche automatically decreases whatever the last phone call volume was set on the radio by 3 or 4 ticks by default...so you will find yourself playing with the volume quite a bit.

I made some test calls...left myself some voicemails and replayed them through the Scosche Bluefusion. I would agree that the volume of my voice seems a bit "distant" when listening to it...probably not a big deal...and I am not sure if mic placement makes that much of a difference. As mentioned before I have the mic on the driver's side "A" pillar about as close as you can get to the "factory" location of the On-Star mic right above the driver's head. I figured that if GM took the time to engineer it there...then there must be some merit to placing this mic as near as possible to the driver rather than near the rear view mirror as instructed in the directions that came with the Scosche. I suspect that it might have something to do with potential liability with air bag deployment from the "A" pillars...and having the mic located there might be an issue. My thought is that if my airbags deploy...I probably have bigger issues than worrying about the mic...and I'll take my chances. Coincidentally (or not) the cable for the mic was the PERFECT lenghth to span from the driver's side "A" pillar, across the headliner/windshield, down the passenger side "A" pillar, and connect to the Scosche box near the XM unit behind the glovebox....which leads me to believe that if the "preferred" placement of the mic WAS in fact above the rearview mirror...they would have decreased the length of the cable by at least 3.5 feet! Just a theory.

I have the Scosche connected to a Blackberry Bold...synced up easily if you follow the directions...no issues with compatibility that I can see aside from the voice dialling seeming a bit sketchy for some reason...I may need to play with the settings on my phone.

I did stream music directly off my Blackberry Bold to my radio using Bluetooth...it works fine...though the sound/fidelity is NOT as good as using a direct AUX cable. Sufficient probably for most, but not stellar. I do have the iPod Bluetooth connector as well, but haven't tried it yet. I would assume the sound is going to be about the same as the stream off my Blackberry.

I also, out of curiousity, checked out if the sound from the AT&T Navigator program on my Blackberry could be streamed over the Bluetooth as well...and it could...but I don't think that it automatically will switch back and forth between that program and XM on an "as needed" basis for verbal directions...probably best off leaving the phone on its internal speakerphone while using that function.

Hope this all helps everyone.

Just so Im clear the only thing this Blue Fusion doesn't have compared to the OEM factory Bluetooth solution is the use of the OnStar microphone correct?

All steering wheel controls are the same?

Are you are able to keep 100% OnStar functionality with this kit?
