Yeah I would do the ON position but with sooo many modules being powered up I'm afraid it would drain the battery too quickly.
On my 97 Tahoe it was just a matter of pulling the chime module and bending back the pin for the door open/ key inserted and reinserting the module

My neighbor works for an auto parts chain and can get me a good deal on a battery and the cables for secondary setup

Even w/ the key off, after about three RAP cycles on the NBS, our batteries probably wont' start the truck.

What are the chances of that happening? I guess I am selfish, wait, actually as part of my being responsible, I have health insurance too.

It is so exhausting that any discussion of disabling the babysitter / lawyer / liability / "you're an idiot" mode of GM vehicles DRLs, auto headlights, setabelt chimes, can't use Nav while driving, etc... turns into, why would this idiot want to do that?

Maybe DRLs are good, maybe they are bad, maybe some states pull you over for not having them, maybe some states don't, maybe they make it harder to notice motorcycles, maybe not, maybe they use more power and fuel, maybe not. Maybe they won't let me into Canada without them, maybe they will. I don't care. If someone asks how to disable something, why can't we discuss that instead of the merits of such a decision.

In Montana, the legislature is debating whether a seatbelt offense should be worthy of pulling someone over for or not. They claim that they will save so many lives if not wearing seatbelts is a primary offense. I wear my seatbelt anyway and would even without any law at all. If I ride a motorcycle I wear a helmet, not because a bunch of people in Helena who have never ridden told me to but because I do have a brain. This amazing feature also allows me to know when to use headlights. It also allows be to have common sense. Maybe when I am turning into my driveway late at night and my headlights are going to shine straight into my neighbor's bedroom window, or I am stopped behind a small car in my Suburban and I can see in their mirror that I am blinding them, I would like to be courteous and shut off my headlights or DRLs. Wow, that sounds risky. What nerve I have.

I have a Ford Windstar with an "old-fashioned" switch. It has selections for parking lights, headlights and OFF! Amazingly, when we drive it at night, our headlights are on. Go figure. YEAH FORD!!!

Around here, there are so many old cars and ignorant people, that if you do have DRLs, people will pull up to you at the light and tell you that you left your lights on.
I disabled mine for HID purposes and I don't think its a dangerous thing. I still have my AHLs though.

But seat belts are a no-brainer. The chimes are there because of lawsuits, yes. The chimes are also there to remind you that you can keep yourself from being impaled on the steering column by wearing the seatbelt.

I came across this thread cus im looking to disable the alarm on my boyfriends caprice. I cant believe people use this subject to insult people. My boyfriend is overweight and cannot even buckle his belt because his belly is quite large and he would be extremely uncomfortable with it buckled, if it is even long enuff. I dont judge anyone based on their own decisions, and i suppose some of u might say "then he shouldnt be driving". So then my reply is "how is he supposed 2 get to work, we live in the country there is no public transportation" and if he gets into an accident i dont think his belt would make any difference. And to the dude talking about the weak links in our society u misspelled a few words in your speech. Dont throw rocks from your glass house a~hole. U dont even spell right, and if it was a typo then u need a typing lesson. If your going to insult people for being stupid then i suggest looking over your words before clicking submit.... js

Well you are absolutely right, it is very difficult to have a discussion on any forum about daytime running lights or seatbelts without it turning into why on Earth would you not want a safety feature, OMG?!?!?! Then the armchair lawyers get involved. I would also add, you know the saying about attracting more flies with honey than vinegar? Well if you come here complaining don't expect too many helpful replies either.

I don't know for your car specifically but usually it is as simple as looking under the seat at the area where the seatbelt receiver comes up from the floor. Look for a wire then look / feel for a connector. Unplug it. This should not affect airbags as this simply tells the car the seatbet is buckled. Therefore, no chime! If you cannot get to the connector, cut the wire but that is at your own risk of modifying the car, maybe cutting the wrong wire, etc.

This is for your education only and I cannot be responsible for you incorrectly modifying your car or getting injured because you cut / disconnected the wrong wire / didn't buckle up.

Personally, the chime drives me bonkers. I HATE my car telling me what to do and I hate even more, my car telling me what I can or cannot do or limiting what I can do because suits in a Board Room are afraid of being sued! I disable my chime and I DO wear my seatbelt. I don't have DRLs but I DO turn my lights on at night or in poor visibility. I guess there are a bunch of idiots out there which is why we have to take some meds "by mouth" and not orally. IDIOTS!

Welcome to the forum...
And I, would the be the "a~hole" that made reference to the weakest links in our society. Do I care if anyone wears a seat belt? No... Helmet? No.. Disabling a safety feature that could prevent me from being in an accident with them because of a poor choice on there part? YES. DRL's DO help prevent accidents in low level lighting situations, and poor weather conditions when a driver may not have the good foresight to turn on their own lights...
And you might want to do wee bit of spelling, grammar and punctuation check yourself...
Have a nice day

Easiest way to silence the chime is to buckle the seat belt. If one chooses not to do that, then just buckle it and sit on it.

The KC Chiefs lost a premier linebacker cuz he didn't buckle his belt, rolled, was thrown clear, and became a paraplegic. IIRC he died some time later due to a blood clot.

Suggest anyone interested in not using belts, go watch one of those roll-over demonstrators. The dummy is thrown out at a very slow roll rate. But this will never convince those that think they're safer being thrown clear of the vehicle. Maybe if the vehicle explodes that would be true.

Welcome to the forum
Its possible the sensor got wet, but you'd have to be pretty darn wet to soak it that much... you may have gotten the connector wet and it may have corroded a bit... I'd disconnect and re-connect the connectors under the seat....
If that doesn't resolve it you may need to pull the seat out and inspect....
I can't speak to the Traverse but when I pulled the seats out of my daughters Cobalt to clean up a coffee spill the sensor was not to difficult to access...

Which airbag light are you referring to? The airbag readiness light or the status indicator?

If you are referring to the airbag readiness light, if it stays on after the vehicle is started or comes on while driving, it means the airbag system might not be working properly. The airbags in the vehicle might not inflate in a crash, or they could even inflate without a crash.

I encourage you to have the vehicle services as soon as possible.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.
