I would suggest getting a few extra panel retainers from your local auto parts store to have on hand should you damage any beyond reuse... also Harbor Fright has plastic panel removal tools that can really make the process go easier....
Do it right and do it once...
Thanks for the advice! It is certainly appreciated.

Are you sure it's the switch and not the element. My service mgr told me that the elements are a failure problem.

Pretty sure... the seat warmers will work on occasion (both). However the bottom button on the switch seems to be the culprit as it only wants to work 10% of the time. When it does work all elements operate properly.

When you get in there, make sure the connector was seated properly. But it does sound like a bad switch.

Yup. Bad switch. Changed it out yesterday and all is good now. Of course I did break one of the mounting sleeves. I didn't realize one of the switch's screw mounts had been built into the door handle molding. We'll see how it holds up. It appears to be mounted tight though.

I've never been that good with DIY projects.

Default Heated Seat possessed. Drivers side

Did anyone finally find the solution to the drivers heated seat going berserk? What about disconnecting the switch on the door panel? Mine works normally when the door is open and engine running. Could the wiring be shorted between the door and body?

More likely to be open circuit in the wiring between the door and the body. A short would probably blow a fuse.

I replaced the driver's side door module (the problem was on the driver's side), that didn't work. I then replaced the Memory Seat Module under the driver's seat (this part was the most expensive at >$400), but that didn't fix the problem. Last, I replaced the passenger side door module and amazingly, that fixed it. This was years ago and it has worked fine ever since.

Seat heater wiring diagrams attached...I think.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Why does it work normally when the door is open and the engine running?
