1999 Suburban 1500 5.7 V-8. 216,xxx. "Security" dashboard light remains on. Manual says it means Passlock system is not working and may interrupt engine operation. Mechanic says probably will not interrupt operation, that it may be just a broken wire inside ignition key cylinder, but that a new ignition key cylinder required to return full function. Anyone have experience and advice on this?
