I have an 07 tahoe and would like to add this upgrade. anyone have any experience in the install or know where the alarm is located? looks like a simple plug and play module.

any info would be greatly appriciated.

thanks!

HEY dz tell us more about his alarm deal .. and how does it work after the install.. do dealers install it..i have had past thefts that have taken all the audio, speakers, radio, nav system etc in my new 05 yukon lx.. broke out a window and jerked the speaker wire off so it shut up the alarm and went ahead and did me entire rig...please tell us all that you know about the upgrade.. thanks Marie

marie,

The unit is wired directly into the content theft-deterrent system and is designed to activate your vehicle's alarm (horn and flashing lights) if a change in the parked angle of your vehicle is detected. so if someone tries to jack your wheels it notices this and sounds the alarm. i have 22's so i am very interested in this.

i just wanted toknow if it was a DIY or not. i called the dealer and the service tech didnt know what it was. he tried to direct me to an aftermarketstore that does stereo/alarm upgrades for them.i told him this is a GM part so he looked into it and called back saying they could do it ($149.50 parts + 1/2 labor = $189.00). these are available online for about $140 shipped. thought i could do it myself and save a few bucks. the guy stated it didnt look like it was tough to do.

For the few bucks you would save I would have your GM dealer do it. At least it would be covered under warranty for labor as well.
