Default Serious problem.

I have a 95 suburban that is gets so hot the exhaust manifold on the passenger side turns red. I've had it checked for back pressure. The guy tested for exhaust and oil in the radiator: none. The temp gauge doesn't get above the 210° mark ever and usually hovers just above the first big tick mark (1/4 of the gauge). Power will surge occasionally in that it feels like it's dragging then hit a stride for a second where it'll get more power, but most of the time feels like it's dragging. I've replaced the fuel pump, the fuel filter, the tps, the egr, the sensor with the spring on it (I can't think of the name), the ignition control module, the alternator, I took the forward O2 sensor out of the exhaust line and it works a little better i.e. not dying every 200 yards, I've dumped an entire bottle of carb cleaner into the throttle body into it, and have run fuel cleaner through the system. I'm all out of ideas please help. This is the only vehicle I have and can't afford a new one.

Welcome to the forum.

A lean mixture will lead to a hotter than normal exhaust.

How do I test for that? And would it cause terrible fuel economy?
