Default service 4x4 message

Lately I've been getting the "service 4x4" message, in my DIC on my 2007 Tahoe. It seems to be happening when I first use the car for the day. What I mean is I park it over night, the next morning i start it up and theres the message. then it goes away, and never shows up for the rest of the time im using the car, not even when i turn it off for a quick stop at a store or something. but when i park it over night, thats when i see the message. it engages in auto, 4 high, and 4 low just fine. could this be a warning that diff. fluid or transfer case fluid is low?

i brought it to the dealership yesterday and the last tech who update the s/w on my car lookst to have uploaded data for the wrong vehicle, so supposedly the tech yesterday how to manually update my vehicle for each option. not exactly sure what that meant. but supposedly there is nothing wrong with my 4 wheels drive. so today when i used the vehicle, last time i used it was last night about 11 pm, i start it today about 6 pm, and theres the message again.

so im lost about this issue. any help is appreciated!

I have a '04 Tahoe with the same problem. Mine surfaced in the middle of nowhere in TN. I called OnStar for a quick diagnostics of the drive train. The tech told me nothing was wrong mechanically and connected me to a 4X4 specialist; she told me a sensor was bad. I had this verified at my local Chevy dealer. The service manager told me this is a common problem. I haven't fixed it yet, but am going to when the weather warms up a bit.

hmm....i think i'll call onstar, hopefully they'll be as helpful to me as they were to you. im bringing the car back in on Friday to get some things replaced, the motor for my adjustable pedals, and a new passenger mirror only b/c the actuator for tilting the mirror cant be bought seperately, or so they tell me.

hopefully they'll finally take care of this issue with the service 4 wheel drive....thats what i get for wanting my car's s/w to be up to date. i should have left it alone.
