Default Service Tyre Pressure Sensor in 2003/04 Z71 Burb

Hi, last year I have replaced one of the tyre pressure sensor from the rear right tyre, and recently about one month I have replaced from the other wheels. The sensors were the original ones since 2003 and they were replaced by Doorman. Well, yesterday and today the warning Service Tyre Pressure Sensor appeared again. I consider the new sensors are new, so my question is: Where the receptor for the TPS is located? I think I this message could be caused by dirty connectors, or may I am wrong? Unfortunatelly the repair manual I have does not have anything about TPS.
Thank you!

The tire pressure monitor system can be more of an inconvenience than a convenience. Unfortunately, too many people do not properly service their vehicles, and we don't have many full service fuel stations anymore, so it became mandated.

Have you tried forcing a relearn on the system? If you are not familiar with this procedure.

- Apply parking break
- Turn vehicle on, but do not start it
- Turn the head light switch from off to park four times. You will here the hear the horn beep twice, if you did it properly.
- Starting with the driver's side front tire, deflate the tire until you hear a beep
- Then go to passenger front, passenger rear and driver's rear. Deflate until you hear the beep and then move quickly to the next tire.
When you are finished the light should be off on the Driver's information Center.
If you are still having problems, you may still have sensor problems. The batteries only last so long.

The sensors communicate with the main computer.

Good luck with your repair.

Hi Mulmur1,
Thank you for the reply.
And yes I have done the relearn of the system, and after this post the car has stopped giving me the advertise to service the tyre pressure sensor. This is one more reason I think this issue is related to the receptors that I would like to know where they are.
Thank you again,
Sergio

the sensors send a radio signal to the rcdl module usually located under the dash cover behind the instrument cluster. There are no connectors from the sensors in the tires to the rcdl module. if the light is on solid the pressure is low. if the light is flashing, there is a fault in the system

Thank you Tech2, well, I think may be a fault in the system, but I am going to see if I find the dcdl module under the dash as the only thing I have is this message to service the tyre pressure sensors.

your sensors in the wheels are 10 years old. The batteries in the sensors are probably going dead. I have never seen a bad rcdlr module. There will be dtc set in the module for diagnosis purposes but you need a full function scan tool to read them.
It is not possible to diagnosis this without a scan tool. If you try, the best guess would be to start replacing the sensors in the wheels.

FWIW, I got a set of four on eBay last year for about $150.

Hi Tech2, I have replaced all the tyre sensors, one last year and about two months ago the other three, at every replacement I have done the relearn of the system. I have bought these four new sensors last year and they are from the same brand (Dorman).
I have two different scanners, but they do not report any code to me, maybe because they can't read this module. One is Maxiscan 509 and the other one is the Innova 3120b.
Thank you again

Sergio,

I found a document that outlines some additional information on the TPMS that you may want to read through. You may want to also check / remove the PDM fuse from your truck. If the fuse is ok, then remove it for five minutes. Does you keyless remote work for the truck? It is always possible that a module fails, but as Tech2 noted, this is a not normal. If all else fails, try and find a dealer that can scan your tire pressure sensors and make sure that they are sending out a signal. It is always possible that they were damaged when they were installed or not sending a signal.

Hopefully you will get this resolved. There are many others running around with the light on, as it can be a pain to fix.
