Tahoe & SuburbanThe power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.
Just picked up a '99 Special Edition. It was built up by Colorado Custom Truck Center and sold at dealers on a limited basis. This one has all the standard 3/4 ton SLE stuff plus upgraded leather seating, wood trim, limo lighting, and a TV/VCR. The kids thought that was pretty funny. It's been well cared for so it's in very good shape. It has the 7.4 liter engine and 4.10 rear end so it will have no problem pulling the horse trailer. Overall it will be a good replacement for my older truck.
She's got 238k so far. She's getting paint, lights, wheels, 3rd row seating and a tv. Her main job is pulling our 18' bowrider. I think the 5.3 will do just fine.
Bought this 05 burb last year w/105,000 miles. Tows the trailer great!
I tow with a 2000 4x4 burb, same color. My camper is a 2017 Coleman 262BH. Weight is around 5650 dry (6500) ready to go. As far as the suburban frame (with Sumo Supersprings) it's a great vehicle. The 5.3 does OK. In tow/haul I can run interstate speeds (65) without too much stress. In the mountains I pull it down to 2nd and let it rev. It's no race car with a camper behind it.
