Default Slack in G80 diff ?

Hi I’m new here so have mercy if I should ask this somewhere else, point me in the right direction if so .

I have a 07 Tahoe LT with locking diff , it sometimes has a clunk in driveline just after or on take off . I lifted the driver’s rear tire and can move the tire back and forth about an inch before I see the drive shaft start to move . Is that excessive play ? The u-joints seem fine and the oil is full . Also when I move the tire it does make similar sound and it has 213000 mile on it .
im I in for a $$$$ repair ? Help ! Any advice is welcome and more than I have now . Thanks for reading this.

hard to say without opening the cover and inspecting the gears. It could also be your slip-yoke.

Ok thank you . FYI with it in In neutral and the wheels on the ground I can grab a hold the driveshaft and move it back-and-forth about a half an inch before it will stop moving. Looks like I’ll have to take it in
