Let me introduce myself and fall on my sword at the same time. My dear wife insisted that we sell our MB Diesel wagon to buy a Suburban so she could drag her horses all over the east coast. This was in 1992. I did not approve since I'm a Porsche 911 nut, but over time it won me over. By over time I mean that in 285,000 miles that damn truck required only brakes, oil, tires and wiper blades, the cost to maintain my Porsches during the same period could have bought a waterfront lot in Palm Beach. The 92 Suburban is long gone and my dear wife has passed, but lately I had need of a vehicle to drag some motorcycles and my boat around. I thought I had a great deal on an Excursion, a 2003 Eddie Bauer. I figured it was developed to compete with the iconic Suburban and must be the next generation. What a disaster! After buying it I noticed that the steering was weird. Had I brains, I would have checked the internet, but I just took it to my local honest shop. They installed a new steering box. Still steered weird. 4 new tires and alignment to spec...still steered weird. Alignment with greater than recommended toe-in...still steered weird. They finally intsalled caster wedges to on crease caster by 2 degrees each side. There was some improvement but it still required concentration to keep it between the lines. The next step was new springs to prevent the rear axle from binding up and unloading and some radial bars to stabilize the rear alignment. I traded it at a $10,000 loss after only 340 miles on a 2010 Suburban. I feel like a fool but I couldn't be happier. The new 2010 handlels damn near as well as my Audi and since it doesn't require high test, is only a few pennies more to mile to operate than the Audi.

So after abusing my introduction I have a few questions: My wheels are the 20" ones with 275/55 tires...what is the correct tire pressure?....I put Koni shocks on my wife's 92 and now wonder what I might install to make my, new to me, 2010 so good I could sell the Audi? Damned shame about selling the Benz. I'd love to have a diesel MB to use as a daily driver...hard to kill them. I currently have a '87 560sl in winter storage. Very well engineered automobiles.

As for the Ford issue, I can relate, to a point. I have an Explorer that has cost me more money than any other vehicle I've owned in the past...but I can't afford to get rid of it due to having sunk so much money into it. I figure, that by the end of spring, I'll have had the transmission, brakes, rear spring hangers, and main computer replaced.

I bought my Tahoe because the Explorer couldn't handle the monthly trips to Ohio and back anymore.

As for your tire pressure question, I'd contact a dealer for the tire and inquire there. 20 inch rims aren't exactly stock, and they'll have the proper information there to keep you safe on the roads.

20s are stock, and your tire pressure is on the drive door jamb.

I have 20s on my Tahoe and I believe it's 32.

According to Edmunds, the rims are 17X7.5

provided the wheels are stock, it will be like mentioned in the doorjam on the sticker.

Glad you like the burban. I know I've dug the 2 I've owned.
