I have not been on here in awhile, but my front speakers '03 quit working a year or so ago and I posted about it. Sometimes I hear I crackling or popping and that is usually just when I open my door. Somebody responded saying it was just the speakers and they would probably need to be replaced.

Before you buy parts you could check the plug on the rear of the head unit. My clip used to jiggle loose.
Factory amp in there? If it's not receiving the remote signal you wont get sound.
If you have a speaker shorted to ground then the radio will operate in a protected mode.. you can check the resistance of individual speakers.

Check out some publications from the University of YouTube and poke around with the multimeter before you buy new speakers- otherwise they might not get power either.
