i have a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 5.3L ( 4 wheel drive). I installed new starter and when I connected battery wire made it continuously crank without the key in the ignition. when i put key in ignition it started right up, but starter keeps working after I shut it down...? Please Help?

 

Disconnect the small wire that goes to the starter solenoid on the starter. If it stops cranking then the starter is good. If it continues to crank then the solenoid is bad.
