2004 gmc 2500 hd steering has always bin heavy since new had a 1996 gmc 2500 and it steered with little effort is there a gear box option to change out 2004 style to 1996 style

 

I had a 2003 K2500HD Duramax and it steers just like my 1997 K2500. Not sure if that helps you at all, but you may have another issue going on, not sure. If someone owned the truck before you they could have upgraded something. I have the opposite issue, LOL. I wish my 1997 could steer with some road feel. Its like butter back and forth so much you don't have that "road feel" then again I'd love it if my truck steered like a lawn tractor. I like feeling the force, lol
