Tahoe codes
Hello , newbie here to the Chevy Forums, seems to be more active here than other Car/truck forums, maybe Ill start hanging here.
I scanned my wifes 04 Tahoe tonight
Here were my codes:
1 - P0101 Mass or volume air flow circuit range/ performance
2 - P1071 System too lean ( bank 1 )
3 - P1074 System too lean ( bank 2 )
Any Ideas?
I cleaned the throttle body tonight and plan to change the fuel filter next. The codes are pending now but I feel the lean banks will stick and trigger the engine light again.
Thanks
Mike

welcome to the forum
my first guess would be the 02 sensors, they may be pending because they are failing but haven't failed completely.
I had a similar issue on my 97 but the code would only hard set when it was pretty cold outside, warmer days the 02 sensor worked fine, I replaced bank 1 sensor 2 and it fixed my problem...but lets see what the forum has for more input....

Welcome to the Tahoe forum. While you're at it, run a couple of bottles of Techron thru it to clean up the injectors. Wondering about the MAF code. Do you have an oiled air filter like a K&N?

Thanks for the welcome guys. I will go post an intro later today about who I am and what I got. In short a 03 Silverado 6.0 2500HD & a 04 Tahoe 5.3
Back to the Tahoe, well I keep it all stock since its my wifes ( but I own it , hehe, jk) I use her air cleaner box when I need a smog for my truck, also it has alot of the same parts for my truck engine, MAF, air cleaner box, o2 sensors, etc.. It makes the process of elimination eaisier without buying parts I dont need.
I will try the fuel system cleaner, change the fuel filter and clean the plugs. If I am still having probs I will then start swapping parts ( sensors)to play process of elimination.
Lots of great info here, thanks for having me.

smart thinking on the parts check out on the other vehicle, I believe auto parts store carry a MAF sensor cleaner you might give the sensor a good cleaning also a good idea to remove the snorkel assembly and check for debris that may have gotten past the filter for one crazy reason or another...

Just wanted to follow up on the Tahoe. Its back to normal now after the fuel filter change and the MAF gently cleaned with electrical cleaner and a shot of air, I waited until the MAF was cold before spraying a cold cleaner on it. I threw some Techron in the tank the next day ( it needed it anyway, never hurts) but it seemed to run better immediatly after the MAF & fuel filter service.
I cleared the computer and its been 4 days , no codes or CE light.
Thanks for the tips!

Thanks for the follow up! that is what makes the forum really work.
WE can give advice all day, but its when someone comes back with what worked that is the best info...

I spent about an hour last night reading the fourm suggestion threads. I would highly suggest that anyone new to the forums read it. I am a NAARSO certified level 2 ride mechanic/inspector but that has nothing to do with cars. I look forward to learining about my vehicles here.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
