Default Tahoe ltz transmission fix?

Hey, I have an 08 Tahoe ltz with 136000
no dash lights, no warnings, fluid was fine. No third or fourth gear out of nowhere. I've been watching you tube videos about changing the shift solonoids, but there's like 20 videos saying that didn't work...anyone got any ideas?
I don't want to waste a ton trying to figure it out, and I don't have 2500 for a new trans.

It's a pretty cheap effort try to replace the shift solenoids. I would try that and I would do them both since you're in there. On Rockauto I have seen a kit with the solenoids, a filter, and seal pretty cheap. Get some SuperTech Dextron 6 at Wallyworld. It's a messy but, not terribly complicated job. Biggest thing is make sure the truck won't fall on you. Need a decent sized pry bar to get the shifter bracket out of the way to lower the pan.
