I did a search and found - https://chevroletforum.com/m_1082/tm.htm but I was wondering how hard it is to change out the diff fluid? I changed it out on another vehicle but it was super easy. I have yet to do the ATF but I want to do that with both of my vehicles.

My father in law said it was a pain in the butt for the Tahoes and I shouldnt do it and spend 130 bucks to have someone else do it. However smart he is (I actually do think he is smart) I always have to get a second opinion since it was so easy in my other vehicle.

My wife has a 2005 4.8L engine with auto 4wd.

It's a piece of cake.

Loosen and crack the pan on the rear and there is a the drain plug on the front dif.
Refill with synthetic 75W90 lube.

 

So this means there isnt a plug on the rear and I just loosen the bolts near the bottom to get the oil to drain. Is there a Fill plug or just do the opposite where you tighten the lower bolts and loosen the upper bolts to pour in?

Is the ATF also this easy? Amisol seems to be the consensus of ATF people use.
