Does the passkey security on the 2001 Tahoe/Yukon actually serve to prevent stolen vehicles? I am asking because I recently read that these older vehicles were popular to steal for parts etc. I love my Yukon and am willing to take some extra steps to protect it. Thanks. Cheers, Wavelength.

 

Yes, PASSKEY is a passive anti-theft system. It disables fuel if the correct key isn't inserted.

 

Police still say this helps !!! I use these. Anything that adds time to a potential thief's activities helps, plus maybe a thief will go elsewhere without forcing his way in, because it's visibility. In some cities police have given these away free.
