Default Are there California models and 49-state models?

Concerning 2008 and newer GM SUVs like Yukon Denalis: are there special California models?

I know some years or some vehicles had 49-state models and also California models, and there were difference, like with some emissions. Thanks.

Sure are. First four years, no smog needed on new vehicle. After that the smog laws are tough. Wanna do a mod to the engine, exhaust, ect.? Gotta call Carb. Smog every other year, unless their computers think you are a gross polluter. Then every year needs to be smogged.

I'm asking if the GM SUVs themselves are different for sale in California.

I know the smog laws are different. Don't cry too much, the two largest counties in Arizona test back through 1967 year.

A lot of states sell / require new vehicles in their states to have CA emissions. I'm in NJ and it's CA emissions. NY also requires CA emissions. That's the only difference otherwise.
NJ is now 1995 and older vehicles emission testing exempt. No OBD 2 emission check on them so they exempted them as they no longer tailpipe test.

It's been a while but if you had a pre-1973 vehicle in CA you could modify it any way you wanted to. But CA is always changing the law, so who knows?

try rockauto and search catalytic convertors. if there are separate federal and CA compliant parts; you have your answer.
