Default Tire Chains for a 2004 Tahoe

Hello,

I would like to purchase tire chains for my 2004 Tahoe 4x2. I currently have 265/70-17 tires but the user manual states that tire chains are not recommended and that other "traction devices" should be used. Does anyone know if that also applies for "cable" chains versus the actual chain link chains?

What are other "traction devices"/options if "cable" chains are also not viable.

Thanks in advance.
