Default Tire Choices

I need to get new tires for my 07 Burb. I have decided to purchase Michelin tires, I just cannot decide which one. I do mostly highway driving, very little mud or off-road, occasional towing under 5000 lbs. I'm in Chicago and need some snow traction.

Tire Size - 265/70 R17

I have it narrowed down to these three tires. All prices are installed w/ road hazard.

Michelin Latitude Tour - $844
Michelin LTX M/S2 - $875
Michelin LTX A/T2 - $999

Does anyone have any opinions on these? I am leaning more towards the M/S2 or the Latitude, however I like the look of the A/T2 and the added snow traction. Also, the LTX A/T2 is a LT tire where the others are Passenger tires.

I would appreciate any input.

Default tires

i get my stuff on tirerack.com because of the feedback other people leave, and the reviews / spec info, then have a local place mount / balance them for me...

but that's just me... not paying sales tax is a huge reason to buy online w/the kinda prices truck tires are...

I like Tirerack.com and have ordered from them before, but I like Costco better. In the case of the Michelin tires, it is cheaper at Costco overall once you factor in road hazard (free), mount and balance (lifetime, $15 per tire incl. disposal fee) and shipping vs. sales tax. Where I have found the best use for Tirerack is finding odd sizes or tires on closeout specials. A few years back, I picked up a set of 255/60 R16 Continentals for my Subaru for $250 shipped. $80 to mount and balance and I was still under any local quote by at least $150.

Most of the tires I was looking at on Tirerack are ~$80 to ship. In my area, the tax rate is 7.75%, so the tires would have to cost more than $258 each to beat the shipping cost. Plus, Tirerack charges 12% of tire cost for road hazard.

Hi Vester,
I have the Michelin LTX A/T2 on my truck in the E rating and by far are best tires I've ever owned. I have the Goodyear Fortera tire on my wifes 08 Tahoe. They are great tires as well. The tread pattern is great looking as well. Hope this helps a little.
