I am thinking about changing the OEM tires on our `09 Tahoe LT. The tires have about 45K miles on them and the tread is becomming a tad worn. I have been looking at a set of Goodrich Long Trail Touring tires, but I was wonndering if anyone has had any experience with them or could offer an alternate choice.

I buy all mine here; have them shipped to house, and installed at a garage

Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels

I got 35" MT/Rs for my Jeep for like $180/each vs $250/each at Sears.

Sears couldn't even touch these prices. nor selection.

I currently have Firestone Destination LE tires. They are okay as of now. They worked well through this last New York State Winter. I have heard they wear awfully fast, so only time will tell.

I have had several people suggest Michelin LTX M/S tires. I don't know much about them, but those that have them claim they are great.

I would definitely start at a site like the one SabrTooth suggested. I like that site in particular, because it offers real life reviews on the many different tires for any given vehicle. Research is the key to making a good purchase.

Mr. B,

Ha, you're probably going to get as many different recommendations on which tire to use, as there are Users on this forum.

TireRack and other suppliers usually have great prices, but, one needs to remember that once the tires get there, you still have to spend some money to have them mounted and balanced.

Maybe you could better refine your search, by using TireRacks process, by using their Tire Selector, Be patient, and process through the whole list of options which interest you, which will include handling, wear, off road use, and other items which you expect to encounter, or want from the tires you use.

You can find the Decision Guide at...
