Default Tour my 5.3 down, horrible cam bearings
Hey folks, I pulled the 5.3 from my 08 burban and disassembled it for a rebuild but I’m super confused on how bad my cam bearings look. It’s the flex fuel motor. How is it possible that there is caked on carbon build up on the bearings? I know of seeing copper but this is nuts. Any ideas?

I'm guessing really poor maintenance such as infrequent oil changes or using the wrong or poor grade of oil.

I could see that, I bought it at 189000. Just blows my mind that there is no ware on the inside of the cam bearings
