I've towed a lot of stuff in my life with a lot of different tow vehicles and I don't think I've ever seen 3MPG. Based on you 3/4 tank in 80 miles theory, thats pretty close to your mpg. Sounds a little shady to me.

 

Ok you got me I lied! The needle was between 1/2 and 3/4(closer to 3/4 about 3/4 to the 3/4 mark.) And the mileage is 45 miles there and back...so 90 miles...

 

Just did a 400+ mile trip with a 6000 lb trailer. Used Tow/Haul in 3rd gear. Avereaged 10 mpg @ 70 mph. About half of that was through the mountains.

 

What gears do you have TJ?

 

I have the 3.73 ring gear.

U guys have got 2 excuse me here, being a 'new member' et all, but why did member ZX1100F1 ask 'What about the pinion gear? '. since i've seen quite a # of your posts, ZX1100F1, and U seem 2 B quite knowledgeable about the automotive field, U should know that when someone says 'I have the 3.73 ring gear.' they typically mean the ratio is as they stated, because we all know that it takes the # of teeth on the ring gear, divided by the # of teeth on the pinion to get the gear ratio.

 

My guess is that it was a smart alec reply to the above post where they said they had "3.73 ring gear" instead of just a 3.73 or a 3.73 rear as it is normally stated.
