Traction Light Off
Hello All,
Hoping you can help guide me. Picked up a 2002 Chevy Suburban 1500 2WD. It had some issues, but I have sorted through most of them. Truck was showing the dreaded ABS/Brakes indicator constantly on, but that is all. Suddenly, low traction would begin to flash, resulting in loss/reduction in power. I'd simply pull over, hit the "Traction Off button" power would restore. So overtime when I went to drive "The Burb," I'd have to hit the Traction Off button first, for full power. Now after much research, I figured the EBCM needed replacing. Just to be sure, I pulled the fuse cover off from the series of fuses in the engine compartment. Sure enough, the 60amp fuse was missing from it's spot. Minute i went to reinsert fuse, I could hear the ABS pump kick on. So, i realized my EBCM was probably shot and started there.
I replaced my EBCM, reinstalled it, reinserted 60amp fuse, Sweet No noise from pump. Figured that was a good sign. Started truck up ABS/Brake lights went off after a few seconds. Quick test drive around the block, Traction Off light lit up along with ABS, but no brake light indicator. So scratched my head, more research, sounds like Wheel Hub Assemblies and sensors are bad. $155 later and about 40 min of wrenching, everything is back together. Another test drive, ABS light is now completely off, but the TRACTION OFF LIGHT remains on. Yes, I've already tried the clean all the ground wires thing, still no luck. I was told by PepBoys that this thing only has 2 wheel hub assemblies and they are on the front wheels. Am I overseeing some sensors on the rear wheels? What can be causing the Traction Off light to stay on?
Of all the indicators, I suppose this is the one i could live with the most. At least I know my tires won't lose power. Any help on what to check next would be great. No I don't have a code reader the reads the ABS codes. None of the local auto parts do it near me and the one shop I know that does, want's $180 just to read possible codes. Appreciate the help.

you only have one scanner in the whole area? and at this rate I'm not sure how 180 sounds bad since you've already spent that on parts with no luck. No codes means you're just going to be rolling the dice.
You can buy codereaders that should be able to do ABS pretty reasonable.

I don't think its turned off. I read the manual and followed the procedures on activating the cut feature. No change. I have the option to simply push a button on my left side dash, which generally turns it off, but again, no response when I use this button. Not a huge issue right now. I don't lose power at the rear wheels, so I'm good with it for now. I'll save up for a scanner the reads ABS/Traction stuff. I only have one that reads engine codes.
