Default Transfer case question

Hi all,

99 obs tahoe 5.7 4x4 still has the floor 4x4 shifter if it matters believe I have the np241.

I have a small leak from my transfer case and suspect it is coming from the transfer case rear retainer housing and the rear cover. NOT from the end by the shaft.

MY question is if this is a gasket leaking and can I make the gasket with gasket maker or is there a seal inside of there that has gone bad.

Hope someone will let me know

Default Transer Case

Don't know if they're similar but repaired t/case in 2004 Cad.SRX and there was no gasket. Used blue silicone between both halves and no leaks. Good luck with that leak as I have found that sometimes they are a PIA to find !!!
