Default Tripodometer exceeds Odometer

Just purchased a 2005 Suburban. On the way home I was playing with all the settings and notices the Tripodometer read 61000 miles, while the Odometer read 52000 miles.

Carfax checked out, however it does record a instrument cluster replacement about 5000 miles ago. I'm thinking that may have something to do with it, but I really have no idea. 61,000 miles seems like a lot to ever have on a tripodometer.

I have pictures too, and no this isn't a misread, or not seeing the decimal placement.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum,
for an 05 even 61K miles is pretty decent...but yes and IP cluster replacement could lead to an inaccurate odo... you should be able to take it to a dealer and they can read the miles logged on the BCM so you can know the real mileage...

Raterus, I would agree with in2pro about having your local dealership take a look at it to see if they can glean what the actual mileage is of your truck from it. Hopefully this will give you a better idea as to where the vehicle stands in it's maintenance timeline and will help you to better maintain the vehicle as well. I hope that helps you.
