It can be added you just need to add power and ground. Constant power if you want to use it with the car turned off, or switched 12V if you only want it to be used with the key in ignition.
You will also need to get part numbers and cut out you factory overhead console or order and new one with the universal home remote. I might have one complete with the console and univ. home rem..

I am doing this tommorrow hopefully. I needed the factory overhead with just the garage door buttons and no sunroof, gate switch etc. It should be here in the morning, if all goes well I'll post the part number for the console.

ok I got the new factory overhead console with the universal buttons. I ordered the console without the buttons for the sunroof, powergate and anything else that might be available up there for I have noswitches currently. It is a simple install. Remove the light cover, remove the two t15 torx screws, pull old console down. You will need to swap the airbag indicator from the old console to the new one. Install the new console. Program the buttons and your good to go. This is for the 3 led unit. Programming instructions are in the owners manuel

Part number: 25848609 List $234.84
Paid $176.13

5 minute install

e,
If I understand you correctly the part number you provided comes with the homelink transmitter with the three buttons, correct?
GM Parts Direct shows $139 for the part.
Thanks

Yeah, I will probably do this but what I do is copy the price from GM Parts Direct and take it to my local dealer and he always matches their price.

I do the same as genestoy - take price from gmpartsdirect.com to the dealer and the parts guy matches their price.
