Tahoe & SuburbanThe power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.
I recently finished reinstalling the distributor and valve covers and various other things on my dad's '93 Suburban 1500. Someone else had replaced the head gasket and never finished putting it together. I was able to get everything installed except two things:
1. There is a connector that comes out from a wiring harness beside the thermostat. It is a two pin connector with a yellow and black wire. Does this connect to something or is it some type of test connector?
2. The hold in the dipstick bracket doesn't seem to line up with the hole on the side of the head. I'm not sure if there is an intermediary bracket that is supposed to go here or if I just need to adjust the dipstick so that it lines up:
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've searched everywhere but cannot find any information on this.
Sorry, my old computer doesn't let me see your pics. But on my 93 the two pin connector goes to a temperature sensor just to the left (looking from the front) of the thermostat housing It talks to the ECU, while the gauge sensor is down on the block, drivers side. Also coming off that harness is a ground lug with two wires on it, goes to the driver's side of the thermostat. The dip stick bracket on mine bolts to the side of the head directly under the hose on the valve cover.
Hope that helps.
I don't know how many different dip stick tubes they used on SUVs, trucks and vans but, it seems like it was a bunch of them. I had the wrong one on mine from when the mechanic switched out the engine. They put a new one in that was wrong, 2 inches too long. Plus, it kinda had a bind to it since it wasn't the right one. That worked it's self out. I used a cutter and cut two inches off, connected it with some fuel line and two clamps. Works good last long time.
