Tahoe & Suburban The power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.

Default Upgraded my brakes - 2004 to 2015 - Amazing results

My wife bought a suburban, and the first thing she told me was it doesn't stop very well. I'm like, "Well yeah, it's a Suburban, of course it doesn't stop well." But she wants it more like her 2011 Nissan Rogue (3300 lbs), and I explained the Suburban weighs 6000 lbs, so yeah. Still, I said we could try an upgrade, so we did.

I upgraded the front brakes (rotors, calipers, caliper brackets, pads) on our 2004 suburban to brakes from a 2015 suburban. It's a simple bolt in affair, just replace the existing stuff. HOLY COW what a difference a couple inches bigger makes. You need 17" wheels to do this though, ours is the Z71 so we already had the bigger wheels.

This is the kit I used:

Got the idea from some forum posts and this video:

Anyway, well worth the upgrade, it stops SOOOOOO much better now.

Good deal, man!

Yeah the front brakes on any light vehicle make a huge difference in stopping power, to be sure.

Rigs, not so much but a driver who can't or does not obey common sense wont last for long anyhow.

Awesome! I was just about to do my brakes on my 03 Tahoe. Do you know if the 2015 suburban rotor and calipers will bolt onto my 03 Tahoe?

If the 03' Tahoe and Suburban front brakes are the same (they probably are, but I'm not sure) then yeah, the 2011-2015 stuff will bolt right on. Keep in mind you need 17" or bigger wheels.
