Talking want to buy 01-03 tahoe, are they reliable

Hi new to this forum and new to american vehicle. I would like to buy a tahoe between 01-03 most of the rig has over 115k and around $10k in the eastesn part of the U.S.. Is to much mileage for these trucks? Are they reliable? What the average lifespan and what are their trouble spot? Any info would be truly appreciate. Thank You

I'm betting you can find a better deal, I got my 01 for 5k with 148k on it.

lifespan depends on the care of it. I'm betting mine (if it's anything like my 90 pickup) will top 200k+.

mostly reliable, but they do have some issues, but there ain't many cars that dont.

I had an 02 Yukon that I traded for an 11 Tahoe that was very reliable EXCEPT the transmission went out at 23K miles (broken sun gear). The 4l60e transmission was the weak link in these vehicles but I understand was improved in later models before the six speed became available in 09. This is not to say all or even the majority of them had problems but on a high mileage 01-03 it is something you want to check out on any vehicle you are considering for purchase.

Those years also had some issues with Cold Start Knock (CSK) and steering shaft and drive line clunks but I didn't have these issues.

I just drove my 2003 non-stop (except 1 gas) 900 miles one way @ 70MPH (except for 1 hr setting at a stop on the Interstate in 95 degree heat), with out any problems. 121,000 miles only had the water pump replaced a couple years ago and the intermittent clock resets.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another in the 01-05 year range and I'm a Ford man. (that 900 mile trip was to get my Bronco)
