Advice: Get a thorough check of the vehicle before buying it. Make sure the electrical is checked through-out the truck. Suburbans are notorious for having electrical issues.
Recommendation: Get a job that pays you enough to put $300-400 for gas per month into it. You'll need it.

I have had three suburbans and the 1999 that I have now is by far the best one. It has 200,000 on it and I am about to put an engine and trans in it from Good Wrench, each has a 3 year 100,000 mi warranty on them. I think Sub's are the best family car around, they are getting a little pricey to drive, but there is no other way I can carry eight people and a travel trailer and still get 10 to 12 mpg and go every where. Yeah I'm a fan.

Isn't that a little big for a new driver? Its hard to manuver a larger vehicle, plus can you really afford the gas?

Ive had a tone of GM stuff, Im not sure what the market is, I have the 8.1L so im sure i couldnt give it away with the price of gas.

as far as year go, i dont know of a bad year. Ive had a 92,94, 96, two 98's two 00, two 02, then we moved on to denalie's from them, and currently have two 07's and a still have a 01 2500 i mentioned above.

they make a few different models,1500 series and a 2500 series...decide on what your going to do with them and go from there. I think they made 3 motors, a 5.7. a 6.0 and a 8.1L I can tell you the last two drink fuel like crazy.

With the way gas is, people are practically giving away big SUVs like Suburbans.. Now would be the time to buy!
