Smile Where is the oil change cap in a 2008 Tahoe??

This is my husbands first time changing the oil in our 2008 Chevy Tahoe and cannot find where the oil change cap is to drain the oil. Can anyone help?!

the drain bolt on the oil pan you mean? right in the back center area of the engine - pretty obvious when under the truck. the pan is right next to the oil filter so look for the bolt on the bottom of it and there you go

I do not mean any insult by this but is someone is not mechanically inclined enough to look at the engine and find the drain plug then that person should not be touching it.

I've been good all day and have left this one alone... I hope they have a oil filter for it...

Oil drain plug is located on the lowest point of the oil pan, on the bottom of the motor.
Since you are new to car repairs, you must know just how much oil to put in after you drain the old oil. Drained oil amount usually is less than the required amount.
One advice: for first time you may want to take it to a local shop for oil change, and observe the procedure. Cost of oil and filter may be just about the same as the shop will charge for the whole job. Gain? The knowledge, the price of which is priceless.

And if you do decide to do it yourself, hold the catch pan close to the drain as it will shoot out like a fire hose initially.

My dealer does it for $13 and I furnish oil & filter. It's not worth $13 to me to spend the time to do it myself.

We charge $7.80 if you bring oil and filter.

Yeah but by the time I got back home, I'd have to turn around and go back for another change.

Default oil

$7.80 is a good deal. I'd spend that to not crawl around on the ground and get my clothes dirty... and have to drive to recycle the old oil... i spend that in gas round trip!

Even at the $13 that 73shark pays it would be not worth doing it your self. For that $7.80 we check the lights, belts, hoses, fluids, air filter, tire pressure, top off the washer fluid. While the oil is draining in the air we look for any fluid leaks, glance at the brake pads (through the wheels) and give the front end a quick shake down. We also look for anything else that may be broke or falling off. Obviously we are trying to make a sale but if you are a DIY er you would know what you need to do on the weekend. And you do not have to dispose of your oil.
