Question Why two negative cables?

My '99 burb, has two negative cables; one reaches the battery easy, the other one is a stretch. Why is this - should the shorter one go somewhere else? Thanks everyone!

Short answer^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^. IME, the other negative cable goes to the A/C system, which
can pull a lot of juice, or maybe to a fuse box, or some other part of the electrical system.
It does complicate things when you want to change the battery cables.

Yeah, agreed - but both ends are near the battery - I connected them both to the battery. It was a stretch to get the short one to it though . . . and it has a cable end exactly like the long cable. Just wondering if it should have gone someplace else.
