I just traded in my Z71 Sierre for the 2007 Tahoe LTZ. I have always had deep tinted windows. Does the window tint effect the navigation at all as it claims in the owner's manual. I feel as though I am naked on display without the deep tint.
PLEASE ADVISE

I asked the same question on a different thread and those that responded said the tint (even metalized) did not effect the nav. I am looking into ceramic tint by Formula One (pinnacle series) made by the same comapny that makes Llumar for that reason, but mainly it has better heat rejection. Any drawback is that it costs about 40% more.

As to the issue of darkness and math versus the eye: The front windows will look lighter (to the eye) even if they are darker (mathmatically) because of the light coming in through the windshield. So you may both be right. Especially if you have a light interior that the light can reflect off of.

I've got the 20% on the two front sides and added 35% on the rears for a little extra privacy and heat deflection (I live in the Palm Springs area and it's a bazillion degrees in the summer). I really like the look. Just be sure that the "film" that is used is not "metalized" or you will get the a slight mirror like effect (similar to a polarized lens on sunglasses". Here's some pics of mine:

I had my black Tahoe tinted all the way around. With the black leather you can barely see in, even during the day time. Looks darker than the one pictured above.
On a tangent, has anyone seen a windshield tinted? My buddy works at a dealer and he put a very light tint on his 2006 lifted HD's windshield (not legal)and because of how high he is, it does make it a little difficult to see him, but you wouldn't think it was tinted though. My other friend also tinted his Dodge's windshield with the same stuff. It definitely helps in keeping it cooler inside, as we live in the Phoenix area.

I blacked all my windows down to 3%. I got pulled over last weekon alligator alley by some rookie state trooper for the tint. The ticket was $71.50. I don't have to take the tint off. Just risk getting another ticket. I have had this same setup on all my cars for the last 10 years, this is my first ticket. I won't take off the tint. Looks too good with the black hoe.
