Default Windshield replacement

I took a big a$$ rock on the interstate to my windshield last week. It left a nice ding and crack. I was wondering with the shading behind the mirror if it makes sense to try to go to a dealer and get an OEM windshield or just have it replaced by some repair shop. If anyone has come across this or is in the know about price difference, I'd appreciate the input. Thanks.

I think the windshield is a dealer only item?

Do you have an LTZ? I ask becasue I'm real curious to find out what the replacement cost will be, especially with the automatic wiper control.

Nope, I have an LS. I called the dealership before I go through the hoops of getting it fixed. They said that any windshield replacement company will be able to get the same windshield, no need to go to a dealer or request a GM windshield. I'll let you know how much it sets me back.
