Default XM Radio

Hello everyone!

I am the proud owner of a 2007 Tahoe LT that I bought on 4/30/07.
It didnt come with XM Radio enabled. It has the XM ready radio though with the CAT button.

The dealer wants to charge me 700.00 to buy and install the receiver.

Anyone here get one and do it themselves? How hard is it? Is it difficult to pull the radio in these trucks?

Thanks!

Pretty easy, takes two hours for an idiot to accomplish.

The radio comes out with one tool (7mm nut driver), the toughest part is mounting the plastic reciever bracket behind the glove box (big hands are not a benefit here) the two screws are real tough to get to.

The headliner needs to come down in the front, this is not hard but takes some time.

will I need to use the smal antenna that comes with the XM reciever or is there a hook up to run it through the antenna on the roof?

Hello,
I'm having the same problems as KKM1970> would you please send me the instructions detailing steps to add the head unit and hook to the permanent XM/OnStar antenna. My car dealership says they can't find the proper instuctions. ( I found out they could find out how much the install should cost because the charged me over $300 to slap a magnetic antenna on the roof.)
Now the claim they did not know they were supposed to pull the headliner and connect it like it should come from the factory.
Well now on top of it all the unit, stops working every time the key is cut off and has to be reselected for the XM to even come on.
Would you please help me with instructions.
Thank You. so much.
